When it comes to Valentines gift for students, I have noticed that kids get a lot of candy. They usually get candy from their classmates and their family. So when I make my Valentines gift for students, I try not to include candy or treats.
I remember how fun multicolored retractable pens were as a child and knew my students would love those. So when I first thought of what I wanted to give to my students as a Valentine’s gift, I wanted to include those fun pens. But I didn’t just want it to be the pen alone. I decided to pair something with it, and that’s when I came up with a great idea. So today I thought I would share what I do for my Valentines gift for students.
Valentines Gift for Students
It’s not mandatory to give student Valentines gifts, but oftentimes students are so nice and give us a gift, so it’s thoughtful to give them a little gift. It helps to build positive relationships with students. Getting a gift from their teacher makes them feel very special.
Like I said before, I thought those multicolored retractable pens were so cool as a child. So I knew they would be fun to give to my students. But I wanted to pair it with something meaningful and with something they could actually use the pen with.
That’s when I got the idea to create a Valentine’s bookmark where students could color the clipart with the pens. I made bookmarks that say, “I ❤️ to read” and “I ❤️ books.” This is a great way to help promote students reading outside the classroom. They want the opportunity to use their new bookmarks. Find these bookmarks here. And find the retractable pens I use here.
You can punch a hole in the bookmarks and tie on a red or pink ribbon. It makes the bookmarks feel a little more fancy.
Student Valentine Gifts
I wanted to give my students more opportunities to use their new pen so I also made a Valentine’s Activity Book to go with the bookmark. This is just a fun book that students can take home and do.
There are word search pages where students search for Valentine related words. The spot the differences page is really fun. Students look at the two photos and try to see the 8 differences between the two. There is a maze page and a dot-to-dot page. And finally, there are I Spy pages and make the word pages. These pages have students write as many words as they can with the letters of a Valentine related word like “Chocolates” or “Valentine’s.” Find this activity book here.
I attach the activity book, the bookmark, and the pen together with a strip of paper that says, “Happy Valentine’s Day.” There is also a part that says to and from, so I can personalize it for each student. It fits perfectly in their Valentine’s bag. Find these Valentines gift for students here.
Often times students are really nice and give us teachers a little Valentines treat for gift. I like to show my students gratitude by giving them a little thank you note. I made some and included it in my Valentines Gift for Students resource so you can easily thank students as well. Find it here.
