Things in the classroom can quickly feel monotonous. We follow routines and schedules that repeat every day or week. To help break things up I like to decorate my classroom door each month. It brings in something new and I find it brings my students and myself joy. So today I thought I would share more about the classroom door decorations for November that I use.

Classroom Door Decorations for November

At the beginning of the month, I hang up a sign on our classroom door that says, “Our Class is Unbe-leaf-able.” Second graders love a good pun! I print out a leaf for each student. Each leaf has one of my students’ names on it.

Putting up classroom door decorations for November can surprise and delight your students.

I love to include my students’ names in these November classroom door decorations because it makes my students feel special. They come in on the first day of November searching for their name on the door. It makes them feel like they belong to our class. It’s a great way to build a positive classroom community.

Another way I have done this is to print a black and white version of the leaves. Students color and decorate the leaves and then I hang them up on our classroom door. These make a great November classroom door display because it gets students more involved. They love it! But I have another way I get students more involved as well.

Classroom Door Decorations For Fall

You can add in a little writing component for these classroom door decorations for fall. It relates to the sign that says, “Our Class is Unbe-leaf-able.” I first explain to my students that being unbelievable means that you are outstanding, or so amazing it’s hard to believe. I have students brainstorm why they are unbelievable. They might come up with things like they are really good at math, or they can run really fast.

Having students do a little writing assignment is a great way to bring in some academics with these classroom door decorations for fall.

Students then finish the sentence of “I am unbe-leaf-able because…:” on a cute writing paper. They color the leaf clipart on it and then it is ready to hang up. Students love to see their work on display. They work hard and use their best handwriting. Find these writing pages here.

But this writing assignment doesn’t just have to be for your classroom door, it can work as a great November bulletin board display as well.

Instead of using the sign that says, “Our Class is Unbe-leaf-able” you can use bulletin board letters. Cut them out and hang them up on your bulletin board. You can include students’ leaves and their little writing projects. It’s a great yet simple way to decorate your classroom for fall. Find these bulletin board letters and pieces here.

Another fun way to add in some November classroom decorations is to display your students’ work when they make a November Math Craft.

I have my students practice their math facts or math skills as they make a cute cornucopia. There are math equations on the fruit and vegetables. They solve those, cut out the pieces, and then glue everything together. This is so engaging for students. They love doing math crafts!
