When I first began teaching, I wanted to give my students a thoughtful Christmas gift that didn’t cost a lot of money. I remember how fun those multicolored retractable pens were as a child and knew my students would love those. But I wanted to pair something with it, and that’s when I came up with a great idea. So today I thought I would share what I do for student Christmas gifts from teachers.
Student Christmas Gifts From Teachers
It’s not mandatory to give students a Christmas gift, but oftentimes students are so nice and give us a gift, so it’s thoughtful to give them a little gift. It helps to build positive relationships with students. They feel so special to get a gift from their teacher.
Like I said before, I thought those mulicolored retractable pens were so cool as a child. So I knew they would be fun to give to my students. But I wanted to pair it with something meaningful.
That’s when I got the idea to create a Christmas bookmark where students could color the clipart with the pens. I made bookmarks that say, “Season’s Readings.” It’s a fun pun on the expression, “Season’s Greetings.” My students love a good pun! Find these bookmarks here.
I love how it encourages my students to read over winter break. They want the opportunity to use their new bookmark.
I also punch a hole in the bookmarks and tie on a red ribbon. It makes the bookmarks feel a little more fancy.
Then I attach a pen and a gift tag. I like to write my students’ names on them because it makes it more personalized.
I give my students their Christmas gifts right before the end of the school day on the day before winter break. I have students put their gifts in their backpacks and then head home.
Find these student Christmas gift bookmarks here. Find the retractable pens I use here.
Student Christmas gifts from teachers can be so fun, but it doesn’t have to break the bank! They can be simple and students will still love them.
